I WANT TO RANT. What, you ask, is making me rant? Hearing on the news and from others about the evils of flight simulators, because they were possibly involved in the disaster of the World Trade Center. I do not support censorship of games. Much like movies, there is a little box that says the game rating, if you don’t like it when your kids see R movies, don’t let them play M games. Video Game violence is always getting criticized. I fear when some overly sensitive parent gets a hold of Grand Theft Auto III. I think it’s a little over the top myself, but that’s another article altogether. But flight sims? The flight controllers aren’t even rude in those. It got my fire going when I heard someone say how terrible it was that the coordinates for the WTC were gotten off a flight simulator game and that they should all be removed from the market. Isn’t that just a tad bit of a knee jerk reaction? I’ll bet they learned it was in New York from encyclopedias, we should burn those too right. Think people. If you want to express concern for violence in games, that’s one thing. But don’t blame the games you buy your kids for the evils of the world. If you look at the rating and read the back of the game your kid hands you, you’ll know what he’s playing.
